Fifty Fifty becomes fastest K-pop group to enter Billboard Hot 100
On March 28, the new K-pop girl group Fifty Fifty broke the record for fastest K-pop group to enter Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart, with their song “Cupid (Twin Ver.)” from their single album “The Beginning: Cupid.”
Having debuted on Nov. 22, Fifty Fifty only took around 4 months to enter the chart, breaking the previous record set by K-pop group NewJeans’ “Ditto.” With this new record, Fifty Fifty is the sixth K-pop group ever to enter the Hot 100 Chart along with BLACKPINK, BTS, and TWICE.
“Cupid” was released on Feb. 24, but the song began to gain popularity after the English remix was released on April 8, titled “Cupid (Twin Ver.).” The song was popularized mainly through TikTok, where over 588,200 posts were made with the song.
“I think the song is popular because of the very catchy chorus,” Yura Yoon (10), TikTok user, said. “I hear the song everywhere, and now the song is stuck in my head.”
