On Sept. 4, HSO held their first official rehearsal after a long audition process.
The orchestra members have been practicing during the summer break individually for the audition. The audition lasted for about two weeks as many students across various instruments showed interest in joining HSO. 34 students applied as wind or percussion and 40 students signed up for strings.
“When doing the audition I felt nervous and anxious despite practicing the music for such a long time. I had all sorts of worries for the audition because everyone else was doing so well.” Matthew Park (9), HSO violinist, said.
Conductors Julia Kim and Michael Ganus, and the orchestra members are preparing for two upcoming events: KAIAC and the HS Winter Concert after school for two hours every Monday.
