From Nov. 17 to 18, the boys and girls varsity basketball team participated in a friendly basketball tournament, Korea Classic. The girls traveled to GSIS and the boys traveled to CI (Chadwick) and each team played four games.
Both basketball teams have started the winter season strong, securing victory against KIS previously. The boys won 59:52 and the girls won 54:14.
“I am very happy about the victory in Korea Classics,” Celine Yang (11), varsity girls basketball player, said. “I think we were able to push through with our hard work in our practices and with our team spirit. This season, our practices have gotten more difficult and tiring but winning this tournament shows that our practices all paid off. I think our wins so far have given us a lot of confidence. I am looking forward to winning more games and spending more time with my amazing teammates.”
The boys played against CI, CI JV, HHS, and SFS. The final game was against Chadwick, ending with a seven-point win: 77-70. The girls’ team played against YISS, SFS, HHS, and CI. They secured their final victory with a 16-point win: 33-17.
“I have a good feeling about this basketball season,” Ian Kim (10), varsity boys basketball player said. “This year is my first year on the varsity team and winning this tournament is definitely a memorable experience. I am looking forward to our next game.”
The upcoming basketball game takes place on Nov. 29 against YISS. The JV games are away at YISS while the varsity games will be at SIS.
