On April. 9, the DEIB club hosted an Easter egg hunt after school as a celebration of Easter Day for middle school students.
The egg hunt event involved DEIB club members organizing the stage for the egg search. The hiders placed the colorful eggs with chocolate in places around the school campus. There were 144 eggs in total; the goal of the participants was to find as many eggs as possible to win a prize.
“The egg hunt was probably the most enjoyable event that we planned out,” Grace Choi (11), DEIB executive, said. “It was nice to see the middle school students have fun with the friendly competition.”
After the egg hunt, the club had a post-event which consisted of decorating and drawing eggs on different shades of paper. While the students were drawing, they were asked DEIB ideal questions which focused on four main ideas: diversity, equity, inclusivity, and belonging.
“The responses to the DEIB questions from students were all meaningful and important to take notes on,” Sophia Lim (11), DEIB executive, said. “It was special that we had the opportunity to get to know what our school community students thought about the DEIB ideals. I look forward to working with DEIB to host more events like this to understand the students better!”
