On Aug. 28, SIS hosted its first home volleyball game of the season, competing with Dwight School Seoul (DSS) in sets of matches that showcased the determination of both Varsity and JV teams.
In Tiger Gym 1, varsity boys and girls both secured victories. Although the varsity boys started with DSS winning the first four points of set one, a timeout by SIS launched a comeback, scoring 12 consecutive points. This momentum carried out throughout the entire game, leading to a 3-0 set score sweep over DSS. Varsity girls also displayed strong performance, winning their match with the set score of 3-1.
Meanwhile in Tiger Gym 2, JV girls teams were facing minor scuffles on their way to victory. Still, their determination paid off. After a closely contested match, JV girls managed to secure their victory.
“This game meant a lot to us as it was our first volleyball home game this season,” Justin Chun (10), varsity boys volleyball middle blocker, said. “I am so glad that SIS showed strong athleticism and hope we can carry out this energy all throughout the season.”
