Students auditioned for the 2024-’25 high school play, “Alice in Wonderland,” on Aug. 20. Unlike last year’s production, “The Addams Family,” which was a musical, this production will not include songs or choreography.
Over a dozen students attended auditions where they were asked to assemble into groups and perform short scenes from the play to demonstrate their acting ability. They alternated between different roles, namely Alice, the Mad Hatter, the Dormouse, and more, while getting familiar with props.
“Since this was not my first time auditioning for the school play, I felt more excited than nervous,” Hannah Park (10), auditionee cast as Alice, said. “I did feel a little stressed out before my turn, but once I began performing, I had a great time.”
The cast list for the play was posted on Aug. 23. Opportunities for students to work backstage as prop handlers and makeup artists will be available in the following weeks for those who would like to contribute to the annual production.
“This year’s play will feature lots of group acting, and since Alice meets so many different characters throughout her time in Wonderland, I am looking forward to seeing her dynamics with each character,” Hannah said. “Besides that, I am excited to portray her varied emotions in Wonderland and learn more about her character.”
All SIS students are encouraged to support their peers on Nov. 1-2 in the auditorium.
