Starting from Sep. 2, the HSSC implemented a new system of ordering at the Snack Shack, a hotspot for student activity during office hours that sells a wide variety of food. The previous method was imprecise and obscure as all orders were managed and given out by a single HSSC member running the cashier. In order to alleviate this issue, the new system involves the students to scan a QR code from posters hung around. The code will take customers to a link for filling out their name, desired items, and quantity of items.
“We’ve noticed frustrations from both students placing the orders and students in the Snack Shack, as we didn’t have a clear system that could track how many orders were coming in,” Ms. Mannell, HSSC adviser, said. “We thought if we do it digitally and especially if we know who ordered what, it would alleviate the issue. I hope that through this new system, HSSC can make students at the Snack Shack happier and create a good environment for the students.”
This new change has allowed for the council to easily track ordered items along with its respective recipients, boosting the overall efficiency of Snack Shack.
“The problem with the previous system was that it took some time for me to get the orders because the HSSC was busy with receiving and giving the students orders,” Minho Chun (10), frequent Snack Shack customer, said. “I’ve found it an inconvenience when you don’t bring your phone to the Snack Shack for ordering, but it is very minor compared to how it’s way easier to get my order faster. Overall, I think it’s a great change.”
