Cheers from the bleachers in TG1 roared on Sep. 12 as the school’s varsity boys volleyball team warm up in the gym. It was the third home game of the season, and so far, the team’s winning streak has been long and strong. After defeating APIS the preceding week, it was time to play against the CDS Daltons, last year’s champions of the KAIAC plate.
Living up to the CDS’s winning reputation, the Tigers and the Daltons were neck and neck in the game with multiple blocks, kills, and digs that kept the audience on the edge of their seats. In the first set, SIS narrowly won with a deuce match of 26-24. Tensions were heightened, and the Daltons were able to win the second and third set with a point difference of 3-5. Ultimately, by the fifth set, the Tigers lost to CDS with a score of 23-25. Yet even with their first defeat, the Tigers strive to stay motivated against their other opponents the following season.
“It was a close game, and both teams were playing hefty rallies,” Wongyeom Yang (12), a volleyball game enthusiast, said. “The Daltons were a formidable team, but I believe that the Tigers can win against them next time around.”
