The 31st Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards took place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Feb. 23. The award ceremony, streamed live on Netflix for the first time, was hosted by Kristen Bell.
The night was filled with major wins, carefully crafted speeches, and unforgettable moments for many celebrities. Some of the notable winners included Timothée Chalamet (Best Actor Award), Demi Moore (Best Actress), Kieran Culkin (Best Supporting Actor), Zoe Saldaña (Best Supporting Actress), etc, from the film category. Additionally, actors and actresses like Hiroyuki Sanada, Anna Sawai, Martin Short, and Jean Smart were awarded in the television category.
“I was really happy when my Mom told me that my favorite actor, Timothée Chalamet, won the best actor award,” Ryan Kim (11), Timothée Chalamet fan, said. “I enjoyed all of his works and watched almost all the movies he came out in, and seeing him being awarded the Best Actor Award was impressive.”
This year’s SAG awards remain particularly unforgettable with Harrison Ford’s unexpected Cameo. Known to be the Hollywood icon, he was caught on camera eating a biscuit in a funny manner, which resulted in laughs from the audience. Additionally, Kristen Bell made a surprise appearance by Jean Smart, and reenacted the Hacks character for a comedy skit. Finally, there were technical glitches during Fonda’s speech which made her voice unnaturally amplified, and this quickly started to go viral online.
“I watched the live stream on Netflix, and I personally liked this year’s SAG the most compared to previous years because of little funny moments,” Lauren Leem (10), SAG Awards live stream audience, said. “I look forward to the next SAG Awards!”
The 2025 SAG Awards was full of fun and emotional moments where many celebrities got to celebrate and appreciate each other’s work. This positivity from the SAG Awards not only honors celebrities attending the event, but also sets up the stage for the upcoming Academy Awards.
