Michelle Trachtenberg, a 39-year-old actress, was found dead in her New York City apartment on Wednesday this week. The NYPD stated they received a call around 8 a.m. and found Trachtenberg unconscious and unresponsive. The cause of the death was declared to be “undetermined” by New York’s Office of Chief Medical Examiner.
Trachtenberg was an actress best known for her roles in “Gossip Girl” and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” Starting her career at the age of 3, she rose to fame through the show “Harriet the Spy.” She played the role of Georgina Sparks throughout the first six seasons of “Gossip Girl.” She was nominated for Choice TV Villain in the 2012 Teen Choice Awards for her role in the show. Her last role was on the “Gossip Girl” reboot in 2022.
According to People magazine, Trachtenberg had been experiencing mental and physical issues over the past year. The actress’s friends have been vocal about Trachtenberg’s struggles and her physical state. Sources stated she was “pale, gaunt, very thin, and dealing with health issues.”
The actress had also recently gone through a liver transplant that could have affected her physical health. Due to Trachtenberg’s family rejecting the autopsy of her body, details of her death are not revealed. It is believed that Trachtenberg died of natural causes and is not being investigated as suspicious.
