In the weeks leading up to prom, members of the SIS community dedicated their time and effort to bring the event to light. Held on May 20, this year’s prom turned out to be one of the most exciting nights of the school year.
This year’s theme, “Enchanted Nights,” was chosen after weeks of discussion among the prom committee, made up of dedicated students from grades 9-11 who volunteered their time to plan the event. The classic venue was transformed into an elegant space filled with fairy lights and elegant decorations that made the venue picture-perfect.
From organizing decorations and setting up activities to promote the event to the student body, the prom committee worked tirelessly alongside faculty to ensure no detail was left behind.
“As a freshman, it was really fun to be a part of planning something this meaningful,” Jasmine Ahn (9), prom committee member, said. “We wanted this prom to be personal, so seeing all of our work come together and watching the seniors enjoy their time made the meetings and brainstorming worth it.”
The event began with student entrances, as students posed for photos at the classic Raum venue. Later, attendees were guided into the ballroom to enjoy a special course dinner. The meal was carefully prepared and served by the venue, complete with appetizers, entrees, and desserts. As students dined at their assigned tables, soft background music played, setting the mood for the evening.
“I’ve been looking forward to prom since sophomore year,” Sophia Park (12), prom attendee, said. “More than just dressing up and taking pictures with friends, it’s about spending one last big night together with the people who’ve been a part of your life for the past four years.”
After the dinner, the night transitioned to a series of activities to keep students entertained and engaged throughout the evening. These include recurring activities, such as guessing baby photos and the photo booth.
One of the highlights was the karaoke corner, where students lined up to sing everything from ballads to pop songs. Whether solo or in groups, the karaoke sessions brought laughter, applause, and also surprise talent to the spotlight.
Another memorable activity was the balloon popping activity. A pair of students was selected to try popping as many balloons as they could without using their hands. This activity resulted in a chaotic scene of students jumping, spinning, and falling in bursts of laughter.
Lastly, the photobooth allowed students to take photos with their friends, teachers, and partners for the dance, allowing them to document and cherish this moment.
While prom was full of several exciting activities with moments full of dancing, singing, and games, the night also carried a wave of bittersweet emotions for the graduating class of ’25. Seniors were reminded of their past four years at SIS as they were accompanied by the soundtrack defining their school year.
“All of the activities were really enjoyable and brought many of the best moments of the night,” Isaac Lee (12), prom attendee, said. “But I realized that what made the night so special wasn’t just one activity, it was everything and everyone there that made the night complete.”
Prom 2025 was the product of hard work, collaboration, and heart. For seniors, prom was more than just a party—it was a celebration of friendships and memories to look back on.
