While people celebrate Halloween and the subsequent weekend, coined “Halloweekend,” all over the world, students and teachers at SIS have approached it in different ways.
On the day of Halloween, students were greeted by teachers dressed up as characters from “K-Pop Demon Hunters,” immediately bringing a festive mood to enlighten the holiday spirit. Some students, especially those wishing for extra credit in classes that offered one point for dressing up in costumes related to the curriculum, such as AP Biology and US History, decided to dress up on the day of Halloween. However, many decided to reserve their costumes for the Fall Festival, occurring on the Green Top on Nov. 7.
Some seniors had a particularly stressful Halloweekend as most Early Action and Early Decision deadlines were due on Nov. 1, the Saturday after Halloween. As many checked and double-checked their essays and information on the Common Application to ensure their applications were submitted on time, they may have missed the festivities occurring on the day of the holiday. However, like many students who choose to reveal their Halloween spirit on the day of the Fall Festival, these seniors can do the same with lighter shoulders, knowing their applications are safely submitted.
Overall, SIS students and faculty celebrated Halloween in various ways, and this spirit will continue until the first week of November, concluding with the end of the Fall Festival.
