The Forensics Speech team traveled to Chadwick International School on Jan. 30, competing in one or two (through double-entering) speech categories: Oratory, Prose, Poetry, Solo Acting, Duo Acting, Impromptu, and Extemporaneous.Students competing in extemporaneous cannot double-enter, however.
Within the SIS team, Minjun Kim (10) and Annabelle Lee (9) placed as finalists in Oratory , while Minjae You (10) placed as a finalist in Prose.
“I was really glad to have earned recognition for my speech at this tournament, but most of all, I was happy that I was able to have written a speech that I was most proud of this year,” Minjun, first-year participant in Oratory, said. “I think I have evolved a lot from my first tournament in October. In terms of delivery, such as tone and enunciation, I have grown a lot more confident. In terms of the quality of my speeches, I feel like I have found a good balance between where qualitative and quantitative evidence fits to make the most persuasive speech. I can not wait to go forward with this next year.”
Overall, the tournament served as a meaningful opportunity for team members to test their skills in a competitive setting, gain valuable feedback from judges, and support one another. As the season continues, the team hopes to build on this experience and further refine their performances at upcoming tournaments.
