Actor and martial artist Chuck Norris was announced dead on March 19 in Wilcox Medical Center in Hawaii following a medical emergency. The declaration of Norris’ death was delivered through an Instagram post, where his family announced the misfortune.
Norris had gained an honorable reputation throughout his martial arts and acting career, featuring in renowned films such as the 1990s action-crime series Walker, Texas Ranger, as well as the 1972 martial arts film The Way of the Dragon, where he fought Bruce Lee.
“It was completely devastating to hear about the death of someone I always looked up to,” Daniel Oh (9), martial arts enthusiast, said. “He has established an everlasting legacy by blending martial arts with acting and has inspired millions of people like me to work harder and carry the warrior spirit.”
Norris began training in martial arts while stationed in South Korea with the US Air Force in 1940, and he developed his own discipline called chun kuk do. He was able to integrate his combat skills in the movies he appeared in decades later, thus establishing himself as a respected figure in the acting industry.
Following years of redefining the action genre, Chuck Norris has left a lasting impact on both the acting and the martial arts world.
