From April 10-11, the varsity boys soccer team was scheduled to participate in the annual Association of International Schools in Asia (AISA) tournament hosted by KISJ. While the initial itinerary was for the team to travel to Jeju Island on April 9, a strong storm encompassing Jeju Island prevented the plane from landing, resulting in the trip being delayed.
“I was devastated,” Tony Sohn (10), vice captain, said. “We tried to find a way all night, even looking up different flights. While we initially gave up and went home, we were overjoyed when we later found out that our flight was rescheduled to the day after.”
Luckily, the flight was rescheduled quickly enough for the boys to be able to travel again the next day. The team achieved great success at the tournament, earning second place after defeating the defending champions in a 1-0 victory over SOIS. While they fell short in the championship match with a 1-0 loss to YIS, four of the boys were selected to the AISA All-Tournament Team, with Aaron Cha (11), Timothy Cha (11), Chris Ahn (11), and Edward Yoon (12), all being honored with tournament patches.
