(Feb. 3) SIS hosts third online forensics tournament

On Jan. 29-30, SIS hosted the third virtual forensics tournament of the school year. Last semester’s two tournaments involved participants competing via Zoom at their respective schools. This time, however, all students, including those who were part of a team, were required to participate in their individual homes in order to ensure student safety amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the unprecedented circumstances, students adapted quickly to the situation and performed well.

(Feb. 5) KAIAC cancels basketball and cheer season

On Feb. 2, KAIAC announced that this school year’s basketball and cheer season has been canceled, in accordance with the strengthened COVID-19 prevention measures set by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA). Last semester, KAIAC had implemented new policies such as compulsory mask-wearing so that students could participate in sports whilst staying safe. However, in light of the recent spike in COVID-19 cases, sports practices and games for the rest of the season have been halted.

(Feb. 9) Spotify comes to Korea

Spotify Technology announced the introduction of its music and podcast service in Korea which would give access to over 4 billion playlists and 60 million tracks worldwide. Korean music lovers have long anticipated the service, as the company is known to provide highly personalized playlists. Collections have now expanded to tailor to local Korean listeners with songs recommended by K-pop music experts and trendy algorithms. Now, Spotify will race against other music streaming companies— Melon, Apple Music, and Genie Music— already well established in the competitive Korean market.
