On Nov. 30, the SIS Robotics team played in its first in-person KAIAC robotics competition at KIS, with 14 teams from APIS, Dwight School Seoul, and KIS competing in a total of eight qualification rounds. Teams were randomly paired for a two versus two match.

The SIS team participated in three of the eight qualification rounds. SIS was triumphant in the first two rounds, winning 50-10 against KIS Rye and APIS Rachel, and 53-41 against KIS BHKKSY and Rye. However, SIS lost 42-105 against KIS A Team and Noir Robotics.

“Considering that we expected to win none of the rounds as our robot was not complete, I am very satisfied with the results,” Tobias Choy (11), robot driver, said. “We paired with teams that had better robots, so luck was definitely on our side. I hope that after we finish building our robot, we can score more points to win all of our rounds.”

SIS will play in its next competition after winter break on Jan. 11 at APIS.

“From this competition we learned what we needed to improve upon,” Fabian Roh (12), robotics team captain, said. “Our current priority is purchasing additional parts like flex wheels to improve the functionality of our robot. Additionally, we need to code a better autonomous round program so that we can score more points.”
