The last pep rally of the school year took place on April 24 and celebrated the spring sports athletes. With the help of Tiger Sports Council and Brandon Fraseur, activities director, the underclassmen were able to give gifts to their senior teammates and participate in fun events.
“As the emcee, I was nervous because a lot of people were excited about this pep rally and it was the last season of the school year,” Grace Choi (11), pep rally emcee, said. “That made me very anxious about managing the event with the other emcee.”
The coaches of the varsity girls soccer, varsity boys soccer, varsity badminton, and varsity track and field players took turns giving speeches reflecting on the season and thanking their players for the commitment they demonstrated throughout the season. Freshman, sophomore, and junior players presented senior athletes with poster boards or flowers.
D$Q also took to the field, performing dances to “Salute” and “Magnetic.” All high school students were invited to participate in the penalty shootout against varsity boys goalkeeper Edward Yoon (10).
“I wanted to include a varsity girls goalkeeper and varsity boys goalkeeper penalty kick competition against each other, too,” Grace said. “I also originally wanted the free kick challenge to be completely voluntary.”
As the spring season comes to a close on April 27, students are encouraged to cheer on the soccer, badminton, and track and field players as they compete in the KAIAC tournament.
