NCT 127 members Doyoung and Jungwoo are to enlist in the army in December to complete their mandatory military services.
According to SM Entertainment on the 29th, “Doyoung will enlist as an active-duty soldier in the Army on Dec. 8, while Jungwoo has been accepted into the Army’s military band and will enlist on the same day.” The company also asked fans to refrain from coming on the day of the enlistment for safety reasons, but asked to wish the members good luck.
With this, Doyoung and Jungwoo become the third NCT 127 members to enlist. Previously, Taeyong joined the Navy’s Honor Guard and Cultural Promotion Unit in April 2023 and is set to be discharged on Dec. 14, while Jaehyun enlisted in the Army Academy’s military band in November 2023 and will complete his service on May 3, 2026.
“It was kind of surprising,” Jenny Park (12), long-time fan of NCT, said. “I cannot believe time has passed this much that it is already time for Doyoung and Jungwoo to go to the military. I can still remember when I started liking them a couple of years ago. I think most of the fans will cheer them on, despite not being able to see them in the media for the next 1 to 2 years.”
Before their enlistment, both members actively balanced group promotions and solo projects. From June to September, Doyoung held his first solo concert tour “Yours,” performing 14 shows across seven Asian cities, including Seoul, Yokohama, Singapore, and Bangkok. Jungwoo, meanwhile, took on hosting roles in web variety shows such as “No Pogi” and “MBC Virtual Live Festival,” showcasing his bright personality and charm offstage.
