The Korean Netflix original series “Can this Love be Translated” secured first place in Korean contents. The series was released on Jan. 20. and was long awaited by many audiences, contributing to the rapid rise of the series. 

The series involves a hectic but a light hearted essence of the love story. Upon their first meeting in Japan, the global top star Cha Mu-hee and the multilingual translator Joo Ho-jin find each other irritating at first due to their polar opposite personalities. Still, a chain of unexpected events causes the two to cross paths again in various settings. 

The main cast was one of the reasons why the romantic comedy series “Can this Love be Translated” was highly anticipated. Go Youn-jung -who has appeared in several other popular series such as “Resident Playbook”- acted as Cha Mu-hee while Kim Seon-ho -who appeared in “Hometown Cha Cha Cha”- took on the role of multilingual translator, Joo Ho-jin. 

“I enjoyed watching the subtly changing dynamics between the two characters throughout the show,” Yena Kim (11), K-drama fan, said. “Although it was quite obvious that the two main characters would end up together like a classic romance comedy show, the scenes made it fun to watch.” 

As the two visit romantic cities for a reality show that Cha Mu-hee is filming and Kim Seon-ho is translating, they communicate beyond their initial misunderstanding and grow closer. In the series, Go Youn-jung vividly portrays Cha Mu-hee beyond his outer veneer as a world-famous star adored by millions, capturing the character’s inner vulnerability hidden behind the spotlight. The subtle emotional portrayals of Go Youn-jung and Kim Seon-ho shows how the two characters eventually fall in love with each other.
