SIS hosted the Association of International Schools in Asia (AISA) tournament for varsity girls’ soccer from April 12-13, inviting students from Kaohsiung International School, Korea International School, Korea International School Jeju, Yokohama International School, and Senri & Osaka International Schools.
After a welcome assembly in the auditorium, the SIS varsity girls soccer team played the first match of the tournament against Yokohama International School, ultimately losing with a final score of 5-0. They played their second game of the day against Korea International School Jeju, which resulted in a tie of 1-1. SIS won the penalty shootout with a score of 3-2, earning them their first win.
On the second day of the tournament, SIS defeated Kaohsiung American School with a final score of 2-1. Midfielder Seojin Park (12) shot both goals. The team then played against Korea International School for the third time this season, resulting in a 5-0 loss. They played their final game against Senri & Osaka International Schools. While SIS goalkeeper Juniper Sperry (9) blocked many shots, the varsity girls\ soccer team ultimately lost the match with a score of 4-0.
“This was my first AISA tournament and I really enjoyed making new friends, spending time with my teammates, and cheering on other teams,” Leah Kim (9), varsity soccer player, said. “It was very memorable.”
SIS earned a no. 4 ranking overall out of six teams. SIS students are encouraged to attend the rest of the varsity girls soccer team’s games as their KAIAC tournament approaches on April 22.
