On Feb. 15 and 16, spring tryouts began for varsity soccer and badminton respectively.

“It is nice to be back playing,” Andrew Nam (11), varsity soccer player, said. “Tryouts have been cold, but I love the passion and energy on the pitch so far. Our technique has improved compared to last year, so I am looking forward to the season.”

Tryouts will be taking place for around two weeks as coaches make their final roster decisions. The soccer team will feature roughly 22 players, while the badminton team will be about half as big, divided into singles and doubles teams.

“We pick around ten to 12 players for badminton,” Dorothy Banas, varsity girls badminton coach, said. “Only eight players play during each tournament, but we have extra players as reserves and for their development.”

The coaches have remained the same from last year apart from Adam Yannakakis, a new coach for boys varsity soccer.

The soccer teams will have their first tournament on March 5, while the badminton teams will play their first matches against GSIS on March 4.
