On Feb. 28, SIS Ambassadors participated in the KAIAC choir festival at Gyeonggi Suwon International School (GSIS) to compete against other school choirs. The Ambassadors received a platinum rating, the best rating in the competition.

“Overall, the experience was enjoyable,” Aaron Kim (11), a bass in Ambassadors, said. “We were awarded platinum for 3 songs that we worked very hard on for the past couple of months, so it was great to deliver a successful performance at the end.”

The Ambassadors sang three songs: “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen, “The Seal Lullaby” by Eric Whitacre, and “Mary, Did You Know?” by Mark Lowry. After the performance, one of the judges provided feedback during a clinic session.

The Chamber Singers from KIS and sixth-grade choir from SFS sang various songs from different genres ranging from classic to African.

“Overall, my experience in the KAIAC choir festival was fine,” Leo Byun (11), a tenor in Ambassadors, said. “My favorite moment was when we got to watch the other choirs perform, as we could accurately assess whether we did good or not in comparison to other international schools.”
